FSIC presented at the PayExpo Europe 2016 Conference

JB McCarthy from the FSIC presented at the PayExpo Europe Conference 2016 held in the Excel, London on June 7th and 8th.

Payexpo is Europe’s largest full-ecosystem gathering of payments stakeholders committed to creating cash-light societies.

The attendance numbered nearly 2,300 senior players from leading organisations across the continent, making this a truly European event.

The title of JB’s presentation was “Using social platforms to make payments exciting” which was part of the the using social networks for personalised and immediate payments stream.

FSIC engages with VR technology

The Financial Services Innovation Centre (FSIC) has engaged with more companies on the role of wearables in commerce over the past year.

The recent increased deployment of apps on smart phones, smart watches, virtual reality (VR) headsets and contactless technology has spurred their use in commerce and other facets of society,

The intersection of technology with how we operate on a daily basis has spawned the wearables sector which is now a key driver for consumer commerce, entertainment and sport.

UCC and the Irish Management Institute (IMI) have partnered to develop a new Masters in Digital Business, which was officially launched by Dara Murphy TD, Minister for European Affairs and Data Protection on September 7th in UCC.

Good morning all and thank you to the President (UCC) and to Professor Ciaran Murphy for his remarks.

I am delighted to be here to officially launch the Financial Services Governance Risk and Compliance Technology Centre, hosted here by UCC. This is being funded by the Government through Enterprise Ireland and the IDA and is an excellent joint initiative by both State Agencies.

Innovation in Banking – Engaging the Customer

Banking & Payments Federation Ireland hosted its Annual National Conference, Innovation in Banking – Engaging the Customer, on Tuesday, November 11th at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dublin. This year’s flagship event brought together key senior bankers, payment service providers, policy makers and commentators to present their thoughts on the challenges and opportunities that innovation presents to service providers and their customers.
